Without a doubt regular exercise (combined with a sensible diet) is the #1 way to stay young and healthy. Of course, there are many ways to exercise, from brisk walks (on the Wildwood beach, of course!) to high intensity cross-fit workouts all the way up to running marathons. Whatever your exercising pleasure, one of the best ways to start and stay exercising is to join a gym or health club. For many locals and vacationers alike, that gym is The Gym at 10th Street in North Wildwood, NJ.
Although appearing small from the outside, The Gym is has over 10,000 square feet of strength and cardio training equipment — everything you need to get and stay fit! Some of the equipment can be intimidating to beginners, but the friendly and helpful staff will quickly put your mind at ease and help you on your way to sculpting that perfect summer body! The social and supportive atmosphere at The Gym is just one of the reasons my wife and I consider it to be the best on the island.
If you are into group classes (which arguably offer the fastest way to get fit fast), The Gym offers many core strength and cardio workouts, such as Spinning, TRX, kettlebells, and HIIT (high intensity interval training) classes, both in the morning and in the evening to accommodate your busy schedule. Unlike some other gyms and health clubs, all fitness levels are welcomed (although some classes are advanced members only), so there’s no need to be afraid that you won’t be able to keep up! If you’re a body builder, or just like working out “old-school”, The Gym has plenty of free weights and other resistance equipment to keep your biceps big and deltoids defined. Even in the busiest part of the summer you usually won’t have to wait for training equipment, as The Gym keeps multiple pieces of the most popular equipment.
Finally, after a hard workout you can reward yourself with a yummy protein drink made fresh at the counter. My favorite is chocolate whey protein with skim milk, peanut butter, and banana. Mmm!
